The organisation was set up in 1967 and became a registered charity in 1985. It covers most of the UK by area officers whose details can be found on the website or by ringing the secretary Audrey Weston on 0208 304 2942. Since it was set up it has rehomed over 9000 dobermanns some sadly being cruelty or starvation cases.
In 1988 the SPONSADOBE scheme was set up for Dobermanns which were unlikely to be rehomed.
The Rescue organisation has a twice yearly magazine.
It has a sales section which sells Dobermann related items to raise funds.
